VAT Refund for Farmers:
Great news for farmers when you obtain a Teagasc Grant in Sligo! Since January 1, 2012, flat-rate farmers can reclaim VAT on solar PV systems primarily used for their farming business. Just make sure your system is listed on the Triple E Product Register maintained by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI). You can check the register on SEAI’s website and use the VAT 58 form for your claim through the Revenue Commissioners.

The placement of your solar panels is crucial for getting the most out of them. Solar energy is measured in kilowatt-hours per square meter per year (kWh/m²/year). Ideally, you want your panels on a large, south-facing roof or in an open field. While some systems can track the sun throughout the day, a traditional roof with a pitch angle up to 35° works great too. Just make sure to avoid shading from trees, chimneys, or other buildings to maximise efficiency.
